Fortnite's Shocking Twist: Peely Takes a Hit, Fans React

In recent years, Peely, a bizarre anthropomorphized banana, has emerged as Fortnite’s unofficial mascot. However, here at Kotaku, we’re not fans of this unsettling character. Despite facing defeat time and again, Peely just won’t stay down. So, it’s with some satisfaction that we report Fortnite has finally skinned and flayed this creepy figure. Frankly, it was long overdue.

Since his introduction in 2019, our opinions on Peely have been outspoken. Former Kotaku editor Riley MacLeod shared his thoughts, noting, "Fortnite is known for its outrageous skins, but this one crosses the line. Just look at Peely’s oddly muscular arms and legs. Sure, he’s running and jumping like any athletic character, but I don’t need a food I dislike to be so buff!"

Peely was meant to be gone for good, yet he keeps resurfacing in increasingly disturbing ways. The recent Lego set featuring him, complete with partially flayed skin, was particularly unsettling. Fortunately, horror legend Leatherface has come to the rescue, effectively turning Peely into unsettling cosmetic items.

As part of Fortnite's ongoing Halloween event, Leatherface from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has made his debut in the game. Although you can’t purchase this grotesque killer just yet, dataminers have already unearthed an early look at the character and his skins, revealing two different flayed versions of Peely.

The world is buzzing with reactions to this gruesome twist, and fans are eager to see how this will unfold in the game. What are your thoughts on Peely's fate?
